About Chun-Yen Chen

My late husband, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Frank W. Chen, and I have been proud residents of San Marino for 24 years.  

My 30-year career in executive and budget administration within government, college and nonprofit organizations has prepared me to assume councilmember’s legislative and policy-making roles, including responsibilities in the City’s fiscal management, budget adoption, federal and state grant execution, and negotiation of state-mandated regulations.

My 20+ years of volunteerism and leadership with the Public Safety Tax Campaign Committee, Public Library Renovation Capital Campaign Committee, Recreation Commission, Valentine Elementary School, Huntington Middle School, Chinese Club and Partnership for Awareness have demonstrated my track record of community services in San Marino.

My dedications were recognized with the 2017 Honorary Service Award from the SMUSD PTA Council’s Founder’s day, the 2024 Congressional Women of the Year, and the 2024 California State AAPI Community Champions Award representing San Marino City.
